It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

It is that time of year to look for an outstanding Provo home that displays pride of ownership and contributes to the visual holiday lighting, decoration and beautification of their Provo Neighborhood.

Every year, the Provo Neighborhood Program, under the direction of the Municipal Council, sponsors an award for Residential Holiday Lighting and Decoration. Neighborhood Chairs are allowed to nominate home for consideration of this award.

Winners will receive their awards at the first Council meeting of the year, January 3, 2012 at 7:00 pm.

Planning For Fun on New Year's Eve

The Provo Parks and Recreation Special Events staff needs volunteers for "Countdown Provo," the annual New Year's Eve event at the Provo Towne Centre mall. They intend to create crazy, original, over-the-top fun.  As the Mayor says: "Who wouldn't want to get in on that action?"

Those who are interested should contact Whitney Booth at 801-852-6632 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              801-852-6632      end_of_the_skype_highlighting or wbooth@provo.utah.gov.

Save the Date -- December 10 -- A Neighborhood Cookie Social

Deon Turley is hosting a Christmas Cookie Social on Saturday, December 10th, from 3 to 5 PM at her home at 1481 W 1170 N, Provo.  Bring cookies to share (Potluck!), if you like. It will be a nice break from your Christmas shopping.

At this Neighborhood Meeting/Social, we will greet Kay Van Buren and congratulate him on his election to the Provo City Council. We can also thank him for his service as Neighborhood Chair.

Since Kay will no longer be serving as Neighborhood Chair, we need to elect his successor.  You may nominate candidates for Neighborhood Chair by sending names by email to Louise Jorgensen beforehand, or make the nomination in person at the meeting at 3 PM. Nominees must be present to be qualified candidates. More information about the election is coming to your door in the next week or so.  Watch for it!

In addition, we have invited Lt DeVon Jensen of the Provo Police Department to come so that you can meet the officer who is coordinating the Community Policing efforts in our neighborhood.

Please spread word to your neighbors about this Cookie Social/Election/Meet and Greet meeting on December 10th!  See you there!

Freedom Festival Follow-up

I am sure that many of you participated in one or more events of Provo's Freedom Festival (It was certainly more crowded than I remember in the past!).  Festival organizers are interested in knowing what you thought about it.  Here is a message from them:

It's been an exceptional year for the Freedom Festival! We've had a great time celebrating Family, Freedom, God, and Country with you. We want to make next year's activities even better and we need your help!

In order to improve our events in 2012, we would like your feedback regarding our 2011 activities. Please take between 5-10 minutes to fill out our follow-up survey (click on the highlighted text).

Please refer to this page, any friends and neighbors who participated in this year's Festival.
We deeply appreciate your support. Without you, we would not be able to continue this great tradition of family events in Utah.
